BF – founded in 1995 by brothers Heikki and Kalle Tikas started as a psychedelia driven hard blues band. They were first and foremost a live band in the early days, dwelving into hours of massive guitar and bass movements, a feature that has remained through all transforming of musical ideas and members. Today they are even more a true live attraction, musically somewhere between progressive- and jazzrock, constantly seeking into new musical expression. A BF set will always surprise one with untried players/instruments, with Tikas brothers at the heart of the music with a distinctive sound of Fender electric piano, analogue synths and fuzz bass. Their drummer Madis Zilmer, adds a flavour of free and expressive jazz percussion, peppered with occasional vocal surprises and nicely complements their musical paragon. At the concert musical themes progress from throughly composited parts into completely freeform improvisation, wrapping the whole band into a living organism set of its own. BF have also been collaborators on art projects, multimedia shows and written soundtracks for films.
